Social Committee Events 2023-2024
Greetings from your social committee. As many of our members have been traveling, back at base camp, the Social Committee and many wonderful volunteers of the community have been busy. At gazebo 5 the indoor tables and chairs have been pressure washed. The two refrigerators have been scrubbed inside and out. New curtains have been sewn and hung. A new two basin sink has been installed. The floor has been scrubbed and painted with new color and sprinkled flakes to match. The windows and windowsills, floor, and base boards have been scrubbed several times. A new broom closet has been put in place. The picnic tables have been updated, and several pieces have been replaced. They look new.
In April, a homemade ice cream social was held. Very well attended. April 1, 2023, a game day was held, with five sets of cornhole games, music, tents, and fun time had by all our members. May 29th of 2023 we had a Memorial Day picnic, 78 members attended. The social committee served hot dogs and community members, provided sides and desserts. A second picnic, July 4th, 2023, was attended by 119 community members. The social committee provided hamburgers, one member donated additional hot dogs and buns. Community members provided sides and desserts. Another enjoyable time had by all.
Our exercise program which is held in gazebo 5 Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 9 have continued all summer and will continue this coming season. This program has been very well attended. Thank you, Tracy Lynn.
A new travel group has been created under the Social Committee headed by Byron Hill. So far three adventures are planned. A Carribean cruise scheduled for January 2024, an Alaskan cruise is June 2024, and a transatlantic cruise from Barcelona is scheduled for November 2024.
Something new for our members is scheduled for November 10, 2023, at Gazebo 5, 7 to 10 pm, a live band concert outdoors. Tickets are $20 per couple and $10 for a single.
There are more events planned for 2023-24 stay tuned.
